Announcing History AI Chat

We are excited to announce the launch of our History AI Chat – a new way to explore the vast historical knowledge stored on World History Encyclopedia. It’s a credible AI using only reliable sources, designed for educational use.

🏛️ Credible Sources & Trustworthy AI

ChatGPT and other popular AI chatbots draw on the entire internet to provide answers, including both reliable sources (such as our website) and unreliable sources (such as Reddit forums or social media). That’s great if you want to get product recommendations or recipes, but not so much for historical research.

The World History Encyclopedia AI only draws on reliable, human-created and reviewed sources

  • The World History Encyclopedia website and its carefully-reviewed content of thousands of articles, maps and images
  • CORE, the world’s largest collection of open access research papers, operated by Open University

This groundbreaking new AI tool is made possible through a collaboration between World History Encyclopedia, Open University (CORE) and Perplexity AI.

As everything on World History Encyclopedia, our History AI Chat is entirely free of charge to everyone!

🎓 Designed for Education

Schools are incredibly important to us at World History Encyclopedia: It is our mission to support history education and provide teachers and students with precisely what they need.

That’s why our History AI was built and fine-tuned in collaboration with our Educators Council, comprised of over 100 educators across all levels of education.

World History Encyclopedia AI is different from other chatbots:

  • It will not write essays for students.
  • It only answers questions about history.
  • Its answers are short and conversational, creating a dialogue for learning instead of exhaustive answers.

Answers are sourced with clear citations from World History Encyclopedia and academic journals.

The History AI Chat is an amazing way to explore history, making complex materials such as research papers easily accessible to students of all ages.

🔑 Access Controls for Schools

To make it easy for schools to control what AI tools their students have access to, we have added AI controls to our School Subscriptions ($75 per year). Registered schools can easily choose whether AI Search and/or AI Chat are available to their students or not.

Registered educational institutions gain the following benefits:

  • Ad-free access to the encyclopedia
  • Ability to disable AI features on the website
  • Monthly lectures by historians and archaeologists

Schools can easily sign up on our website with a quick registration process.
